Despite his father's recommendations, ICARE, getting too close to the sun, finds himself thrown into the sea because of the melting of his waxen wings. The myth of ICARE addresses themes of transgression (parent/child relations), or between social groups (slaves and free) and, more generally, between nature and culture. Humans are confronted with the harmful effect that they can have on their desire to push back the frontiers of exploration and knowledge ever further, at the risk of subjecting their human condition to a test fatal.
